At a university in Tokyo, there is a rather unusual research lab. Its specialty is “ants.” The students, who spend day and night observing the ants at their feet in their quest to learn about insects and the natural environment, found themselves reflecting on life as they approached graduation or further studies.

 Some waver between their dreams and their careers. Others struggle to find their sense of self. Still others hesitate, afraid of failure. Though they lack certainty about the future, these students—even as they wrestle with their doubts—are preparing to step out into the world.
